Pompeo's election not to help Trump kill JCPOA: Expert

“Pompeo's confirmation hearing will provide Democrats, sensible members of Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the media a unique opportunity to debunk this administration's false claims, myths and fallacies about the Iran Deal. Good thing it'll be done before May 12th!,” Reza Nasri said in a Twitter post on Wednesday.

The law expert from Geneva's Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, also in a post on its Telegram channel argued that the appointment of new US secretary of state will make it difficult for Trump to walk away from the July 2015 international nuclear deal between Tehran and the major world powers, known also as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

In contrary, the vibe created by media and public opinion will make difficult unilateral withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Nasri wrote on Telegram.

During his last year hearing in which Pompeo was supposed to be adopted as CIA Director, he denied his disagreement to Iran nuclear deal.

The newly-fired US Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson was the only one expelled via a Twitter post, Iran envoy to the UK Hamid Baeidinejad earlier said in a Twitter message.

Tillerson was on African tour while he was informed of his dismissal, Baeidinejad said in a Twitter message released on Tuesday.

The US will have no Secretary of State by the next two months which is critical for making decision on Iran nuclear deal, North Korea issue and the economic war with Europe, he added.

“Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!,” Trump said earlier in a Twitter message.
