Pakistani news media widely cover Iran FM's visit

Leading English daily ‘Dawn’ in its report said that Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif has invited Pakistan to participate in Chabahar seaport project and development of its link with Gwadar Port.

He twice said Iran would not allow anybody to hurt Pakistan from its territory much like Pakistan would not allow its soil to be used against Iran.

‘Express Tribune’ said Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif has said the United States was not interested in bringing peace to Afghanistan, and urged Pakistan and Afghanistan’s other neighbors to work together for putting an end to the lingering conflict in the war-torn country.
It said the Iranian foreign minister is currently on a three-day visit to Pakistan. He held formal talks with Foreign Minister Khawja Asif and also called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

‘Radio Pakistan’ reported that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has emphasized the need to deepen connectivity to harness benefits from regional economic integration. He was talking to Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif who called on him in Islamabad.
The Iranian Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for strengthening border management to prevent illegal cross border activities.
‘Radio Pakistan’ in another story said Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif held consultations on bilateral relations and regional peace and security with his Pakistani counterpart Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Islamabad.

It also said Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif says Pakistan and Iran would move together on the path of peace and prosperity. Speaking at Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad he said the two countries have to further expand and strengthen their relations.
‘The News’ reported that Pakistan has expressed its commitment to work to resolve the issues in implementation of Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline (IPP) project including the financing of pipeline infrastructure.

The views were expressed by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi during his meeting with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif who called on him here at the Prime Minister Office (PMO). They discussed efforts for strengthening of bilateral relations and issues related to peace and security in the region.

Daily ‘The Nation’ reported Pakistan and Iran have vowed to work as one unit and take the existing relationship to new heights.
Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif, who is on a three-day visit to Pakistan , held meetings with the Pakistani leaders including Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif.

During the meetings, the two sides agreed to further enhance bilateral relations in all areas, particularly in political and economic fields and work as one unit.

Pakistani state news agency APP in its report said Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said his country and Pakistan could work together on forming a new paradigm of inclusiveness by abandoning the concept of ‘blocs’ and joining the concept of ‘networking’ which would include everybody and none would have the power to exclude anybody from peace initiatives in the region.

It said Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has also called on Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at Parliament House and discussed matters pertaining to bilateral relations and regional issues.

The APP in another story said Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that Pakistan and Iran should work together and make their utmost efforts for enhancing the bilateral trade to $ 5 billion by 2021.

In a meeting with Foreign Minister of Iran Javad Zarif, who called on him here, the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to enhance mutually beneficial economic cooperation with Iran including bilateral trade, investments and commercial interaction.

“Daily Times’ reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif during his address at a public talk on ’70 Years of Pakistan-Iran Relations and Future Prospects’ organised by the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) to commemorate 70 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries said: We will never allow anyone to hurt Pakistan from the Iranian territory, just like we believe that Pakistan will never allow anyone to hurt Iran from its territory.

‘Business Recorder’ in its report said Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in a meeting with Foreign Minister of Iran Javad Zarif said that Pakistan and Iran should work together and make their utmost efforts for enhancing the bilateral trade to $ 5 billion by 2021.

Geo TV channel reported Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, while on a three-day official visit, said Iranian leadership will not let its soil be used against Pakistan.

Zarif also invited Pakistan and China to invest in the port of Chabahar, strategically situated at the mouth of Straits of Hormuz and said both countries will need to cooperate for ending terrorism in the region.

‘Pakistan Today’ in its editorial said Iranian foreign minister, a diplomat who engineered the Iran nuclear deal with the West against overwhelming odds, is on a three day official visit to Pakistan in an effort to enhance pitifully low trade volume, sort out bilateral problems and hold talks on terrorism and other regional matters.

‘Samaa TV’ reported Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif have agreed to continue engagement for enhancing economic cooperation including bilateral trade, investments, and commercial interaction to promote shared prosperity.

‘Dunya TV’ said Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that Pakistan and Iran should work together and make their utmost efforts for enhancing the bilateral trade.

In a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, who called on him the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to enhance mutually beneficial economic cooperation with Iran including bilateral trade, investments and commercial cooperation.
