New Zealand FM condoles with Iran over killer quake

In his message to Mohammad Javad Zarif, Peters expressed deep sorrow over the death and injury of people in the Iranian province of Kermanshah, and especially those affected by the 7.3-magnitude Sunday night earthquake in the cities of Sarpol-e Zahab and Qasr-e Shirin.

In the meantime, a number of Iranian nationals residing in New Zealand have launched a campaign to collect donations for the victims of the devastating quake in Iran.

Officials from countries in the east of Asia, including the Philippines, Thailand, New Zealand, Malaysia and Vietnam in separate messages have also sympathized with the Iranian people over the deadly quake.

A Strong quake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale jolted western provinces of Kermanshah, Ilam and Kordestan on Sunday.

According to the latest figures, around 500 people have been killed and 9397 more wounded in the quake.
