Mogherini stresses key role of EU

Federica Mogherini made the remarks Thursday at the conference 'Thinking Europe Forward' on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Maastricht.

'That's the reality of today so it does not make any sense because it is out to touch with reality of today, simply it doesn’t work, doesn’t fit it's of a different century,' she said.

'While together as the European Union we are strong, she said.

'As the European Union we are the second largest world economy and we space event after the UK will be out.'

'We are and we would stay the first foreign investor by 27.'

'The leading donor on development cooperation on humanitarian aids the leading diplomatic networks and global security provider.'

'Without the European Union we would not have the Paris agreement on climate change nor Iran nuclear deal and we would make sure it stays nor the sustainable development goals and the UN assistance simply do not function.'

'So just imagine one moment what if the European Union did not exist but rest of the world would be a disaster,' Mogherini added.

'I believe today finally we started to realize that we have an immense potential that we need the European Union.'
