Malaysian ex-king dies at 89

Kedah ruler Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, as the 14th Malaysian king entered to palace in year 2012.

He was king in year 1970 as well.

Kedah was the only king, who ruled the country twice (1970-1975 and 2011-2016).

Mu'adzam Shah was born in 1927 and in year 1959, following death of his father, became sultan of Kedah province.

Sultans from nine provinces of Malaysia rule the country for a period of five years on a rotating basis acccording the constitution.

The post, which formed since 1957 following independence, is ceremonial, but it has authorities like appointment of Federal Court Judges and the Supreme Courts, proposal to dismiss parliament and receiving decisions made by parliament( without permission to comment) and endorsement of prime minister.
