Latin American states condemn attacks against Syria

According to a report by 'RTR World' media site on Sunday, US Vice-President Mike Pence, who was present in the conference, tried to justify Washington's action against Syria in response to criticism of the Latin American leaders.

Brazilian President Michel Temer in his opening speech said that his government is worried about escalation of tensions and military conflicts in Syria.

He called for respect for international law in settling the Syrian crisis peacefully.

Temer said that the Syrian war has lasted for long with a large number of people falling victims to international violence in that country.

President of Argentina Mauricio Macri called on the international community to avoid fanning flame of war in Syria and step up efforts to establish peace and security in the country.

President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro, who had not invited to the conference due to a crisis in his country and President Evo Morales of Bolivia, a close ally of Venezuela, protested the organizers of the conference for not inviting Maduro to the event.

Maduro in an interview with Caracas TV condemned the US air attack on Syria as a blatant aggression against the sovereign and independent state of Syria.
