Kuwait sends more humanitarian aid for Iran flood survivors

“After establishing an air corridor to dispatch humanitarian aid by the Kuwaiti government, a second airplane carrying such aid landed in Iran,” reads a statement by the Kuwaiti Embassy in Iran.

The second cargo contains 40 tons of Kuwaiti relief sent for the Iranian Red Crescent Society.

The first batch of aid sent from the Kuwaiti Red Crescent included one thousand 12-meter tents, 2,000 food baskets that can last for a month, 2,000 blankets, 100 water pumping equipment.

The Kuwaiti diplomatic mission in Iran says the Persian Gulf country will send more humanitarian aid for survivors of the recent inundation.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has thanked Kuwait and several other countries for helping the relief operations. “This shows their humane responsibility, solidarity and expression of fraternity among Muslim countries in hard times and natural disasters,” said ministry’s Spokesman Bahram Qasemi.

70 people have lost their lives in the recent floods that hit northern, western and southwestern Iran.
