Judiciary chief urges examining legal approaches for supporting Myanmar Muslims

Addressing a meeting of high judicial officials, he condemned genocide of Muslims in Myanmar and described the events in that country as crimes against humanity.

Heartrending events are taking place in Myanmar which disturbs everybody, the judiciary chief said while noting that the crimes are committed with the support of a Nobel laureate.

He also criticized international circles for the process for picking winners of such awards.

Noting that international circles have kept mum over the incidents in Myanmar, Amoli-Larijani said that it is strange to see the massacre of old, young, women and children in a corner of the world despite claims of human rights across the world.

While international circles impose the most severe sanctions for taking several hostages in a country, they are satisfied with “a simple expression of regret” against such endless violence, he said.

The judiciary chief also stressed the need for Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to fulfill its duty against the crimes.

Elsewhere in his speech, he congratulated new gains made in resistance fronts in Syria and Iraq, hoping that Daesh (ISIS) terrorists will be eliminated fully in not too distant future.

The US claimed that it will take 20 years to uproot Daesh from Iraq, but the Arqi army and popular forces purged the country of Daesh, he said, warning that certain corrupt regional rulers are sowing new seeds of discord, but they should know that all the seditions like that of Daesh will be removed.

Referring to US attempts to ditch Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Amoli-Larijani said that unfortunately, the US government has taken a dangerous and destructive path despite its initial pledges.

The US is seeking to leave JCPOA under various pretexts such as checking Iran’s military sites, an issue which has not been mentioned in JCPOA and its additional protocol and is void of legality, he said.

Judiciary chief further noted that Iran has implemented its share of JCPOA and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has on several occasions verified Iran’s compliance with the deal.

On the contrary, the US has violated the international deal from the beginning, he said.
