Japan calls for saving Iran nuclear deal

The Iranian nuclear deal, known also as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is an important achievement that should be saved, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in the Japanese capital, Tokyo.

The Japanese PM also stressed Tokyo's commitment to develop relations and economic cooperation with Iran.

During the meeting, Zarif and Abe discussed the latest regional and international developments.

Abe lauded Iran's constructive role in the region's stability and security.

Earlier on Thursday morning, Iranian foreign minister conferred issues of mutual interest and bilateral ties with his Japanese counterpart.
