Italian managers stress need to safeguard JCPOA

A few days after US President Donald Trump announced his country's exit from Iran nuclear deal, IRNA correspondent spoke with two of the managers of Italy's GBA Flare Systems who had travelled to Tehran to attend the 23rd International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition.

Referring to US withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal, Massimo Orini, the GBA's business director said, 'Europe is interested in keeping its deal with Iran and I'm sure this cooperation will continue.'

The presence of Italian companies in the Iranian oil and gas markets are increasingly growing, he said, adding that with more than 20 years of experience in providing flare systems, his company supports Iran's oil and gas projects.

Riccardo Benelli, also a top manager at GBA, told IRNA correspondent that Political relations between countries have always overshadowed their economic ties. However he noted that there is no negative point in Iran-Europe relations that can prevent the continuation of cooperation.

Noting that no country is entitled to meddle in the affairs of other countries, Benelli said that in regard to relations with Iran, Europe's position is different from that of the United States.

He said that those countries remaining in JCPOA will guarantee the interests of both Europe and Iran.

Following the removal of sanctions over the past three years, GBA has found a significant place in Iran's oil and gas projects, Benelli said.

Today, Italy, as one of the world's eight main industrial world powers, is highly dependent on energy and Iran can meet a significant share of the country's energy needs, he added.
