IRNA ready for cooperation with UNESCO

'Dissemination of invalid or false reports has led to an information crisis worldwide and IRNA and UNESCO can help change this situation through conducting training courses,” Khoddadi said Monday while speaking in a conference on cooperating with UNESCO.

The conference was held in Parsian Evin Hotel, northern Tehran.

Khodadi pointed to UNESCO's programs including training sustainable development, promotion of coexistence, preventing extremism, protecting cultural heritage and creating a knowledge-based society as the same goals of media.

“Media and UNESCO enjoy common goals,” Khodadi said stressing that like UNESCO, media also provide information to people and indeed they train them about various issues leading them towards finding a common understanding which in turn, leads to cooperation and coexistence.

Therefore, he added, “IRNA is ready to work with all UN organization, UNESCO in particular.”

Khodadi added, “Information is power” and everyone including politicians or factory owners can use information to have a better performance and reach their goals more precisely.

He also said that focusing on dissemination of information, information exchange, boosting relations among nations and professional trainings are other objectives of IRNA.

Khodadi said everyone should consider himself or herself as a member of UNESO and try to help the organization.

Unlike other media which cover negative news like explosions, war, destructions and narcotics, IRNA tries to focus on promising news.
