Managing Director of Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Seyyed Zia Hashemi and Director General of Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) Abdul Rahim Ahmed made the agreement in a meeting held on the eve of the 43rd executive board meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) which is to be held in Tehran on Monday.
The IRNA chief proposed to establish a joint workgroup with SANA to review the means of professional cooperation.
Meanwhile, SANA director general expressed hope for further expansion of cooperation between IRNA and SANA.
They emphasized the importance of agile news publishing and said that news agencies should exchange news and information in order to access trustworthy news.
