Iraqis mark Quds Day

Various Islamic resistance groups marched along with civilians and a number of Iraqi cultural, academic and political figures.

The protestors carried images of religious leaders, including Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Secretary General of Lebanese Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah.

The Iraqi people declared their stances in support of the Palestine issue through a resolution at the end of the procession. In the resolution, they expressed their opposition to any kind of normalization of relation with the Zionist regime of Israel.

The resolution also strongly criticized the biased policies of the US in favor of the regime, and its step in moving its embassy to Quds.

Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on August 7, 1979, designated the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as the Quds Day and the day of Islam's life.

Millions of Iranians also took part in the nationwide Quds Day rallies on Friday to express their solidarity with the Palestinians.
