Iraqi Kurdistan referendum US, Zionist plot: Iran senior cleric

Tehran interim Friday Prayer leader Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani urged the Kurdish people of Iraq to prevent execution of the US, Israeli and Saudi projects in the region.

'Their plot is to take over the Middle East and create a new Middle East,' the cleric added in a reference to the American plan for reshaping the geopolitics of the region.

Despite Iraqi federal government opposition and amid the regional and international disagreement, Iraqi Kurdistan region's ruling party led by Masoud Barzani held a referendum on Monday.

Israel was the only regime in the world that supported the illegal referendum.
