Iraq stresses importance of border security with Syria

Iraq attaches importance to provide the security of borders with Syria, the Iraqi Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Othman Al Ghanmi said.

He made the remarks in a joint press conference with his Iranian and Syrian counterparts held in Damascus.

Syria security is important to Iraq security and vice versa, the commander noted.

He said that the crossing points between Iraq and Syria will open in coming days to facilitate trade the between the two states.

Both Iraq and Syria are target of foreign sponsored terrorism. The two Muslim states have already liberated much of their country from terrorism.
