Hassan Rouhani in a message to Barham Salih offered him congratulations on the vote of confidence of the Iraqi lawmakers.

He expressed hope that during his term of office, the bilateral relations of Iran and Iraq will be promoted in line with the two countries' interests.

Salih, the third Iraqi president since the fall of the former dictator Saddam, gained 175 votes of confidence for the post.
