Addressing Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province administrative council meeting on Monday, Sattari said that immigration of elites is a global phenomenon which has experienced three-fold growth over the past 10 years around the world.
According to the United Nations Iran is neither an immigrant-sending country nor an immigrant-receiving one, he said.
The number of Iranian students studying abroad is lower than the average in the world, Sattari said urging students to study inside the country.
At the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, there were 170,000 students in the country, 100,000 Iranian students were studying abroad and 56,000 ones were studying in the US, he noted.
Now over 4,500,000 students are studying in Iran, he said.
The figure shows a 25-fold increase compared to the beginning of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, he said adding that the number of Iranian students studying abroad has hit 48,000 ones.
