Iran urges US to give up use of sanction as leverage in foreign policy

The Permanent Representative of Iran to the United Nations, Gholamali Khoshroo made the remarks in an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency on Thursday.

He referred to new US sanctions against Iranian individuals and entities and said that 'Washington should give up using sanctions as a tool in its foreign policy and instead deal with the world.'

Elaborating the topics to be discussed during President Hassan Rouhani's visit to New York, he said that curbing violence and countering terrorism and extremism are topic to be discussed in the President lecture to the UN General Assembly.

Khoshroo noted that the nuclear deal and Iranophobia are also other topic to be addressed by the President.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the envoy referred to High Representative of the European Union Federica Mogherini offer for holding a meeting of the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the sidelines of UN General Assembly meeting and said, 'Holding the meeting has not been already fixed.'
