Iran, Turkey stress deepening of bilateral, multilateral cooperation

President Hassan Rouhani and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Tehran and Ankara in all fields within the framework of Iran-Turkey Supreme Council on Strategic Cooperation.

They also underlined the necessity for all sides' commitment to full implementation of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

In their statement, Rouhani and Erdogan stressed fighting terrorism at the joint borders, including the fight against Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and PEJAK.

The two officials declared their support for territorial integrity of Iraq and Syria and resolution of crises in these two countries through political means.

They also emphasized the need for continuation of the ongoing Syrian talks held in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The two presidents condemned violations against Muslims in Myanmar and called for the Naypyidaw cooperation with the regional and international bodies as well as donor countries.

Erdogan and Rouhani underlined cooperation for making the Middle East free of Weapons of Mass Destructions (WMDs) and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people.

They condemned limitations imposed on Palestinians for accessing Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The two high-ranking officials expressed their support for the Afghan government, adding that the two countries are ready to help establishment of peace and stability in the region.

It was scheduled in the 4th edition of Iran-Turkey Supreme Council on Strategic Cooperation in Tehran that the next round to be held in Ankara in 2018.

Iran and Turkey signed four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in Tehran on Wednesday. The Iranian and Turkish officials inked the cooperation documents at the presence of President Rouhani and his Turkish counterpart.
