In a joint statement issued at the end of the 5th Session of the High Council of Iran-Turkey Strategic Relations, the two presidents voiced concern over the consequences and impact of the US' unilateral sanctions on life of people, cooperation, welfare and stability of the region.
The two presidents emphasized taking all necessary measures to raise trade to the targeted tune of $ 30 billion through promoting required strategies.
The Iranian president left Tehran for Ankara on Wednesday to attend the 5th Session of the High Council of Iran-Turkey Strategic Relations.
In the joint statement they voiced their firm determination to promote political and security dialogue based on campaign against all forms of terrorism and its manifestation.
They announced that being aware of the issue, they will intensify efforts to promote regional and international security.
They said growing economic and commercial relations will benefit both sides, leading to better cooperation and mutual understanding.
While announcing fundamental importance and the need for protection of the JCPOA, which marks significant achievement in multilateral diplomacy to settle international disputes as per UNSC Resolution 2231, they said more comprehensive development of relations will encourage stronger stability, peace and prosperity of Iran and Turkey and the entire region.
The statement urged promoting cooperation in the parliamentary area, exchanging senior delegations, more diplomatic dialogue, campaign against terrorism and organized crimes, maximum use of present mechanisms to fight illegal and terrorist activity of PKK and Pjak on joint borders, raising trade volume, providing better conditions for activity of their businessmen, facilitating cargo transportation, providing safe haven for investment, upgrading infrastructure for transportation and customs cooperation, energy, tourism, cultural, educational, scientific and sports cooperation, exchange of students, professors, researchers and controlling illegal immigration and human smuggling.
They underlined the need for campaign against terrorism and extremism in Syria, continued cooperation within framework of Astana talks to soothe concerns of Syrian people. They reaffirmed commitment to territorial integrity, political unity and national sovereignty of Syria and admitted that Syria dispute can be settled only through diplomacy.
They added that durable peace and stability in Afghanistan is only possible through real Afghan-Afghan peace process that will result in a political solution. The presidents supported such a solution.
Iran and Turkey also announced commitment to maintaining territorial integrity and political unity of Iraq, as a principle for regional and international peace. They also supported Iraqi government efforts to fight terrorism and enaged in reconstructing the country. They announced Iran-Turkey-Iraq trilateral cooperation in economy and security fields to forge durable stability in the region.
Rouhani and Erdogan also announced that defending Palestine and noble Quds aspiration to serve entire humanity and announce full solidarity with the Palestinian people. They rejected any effort to change the legal and historical status of Quds, while condemning illegal expansion of Jewish settlements and dsestructions and other serious violations of international law and human rights by the occupying forces.
They asked international community to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent, powerful and sovereign state with noble Quds being its capital.
Tehran and Ankara also underlined cooperation in such international organizations as the OIC, ECO and D8, to which both are the members.
