In an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Major General Mohammad Bagheri said that that Iran and Pakistan are seeking to jointly manufacture defense equipment.
Iran and Pakistan are working to jointly make defense products and present them as a joint achievement of the Muslim nations, Baqeri was quoted as saying.
The Iranian commander added that the current task of Iran and Pakistan is to enhance bilateral friendship and coordinate with each other in order to achieve peace and security in the region.
Bagheri described Pakistan as one of the most important neighbors of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and said that the country with more than 200 million People is interested to have strong ties with Iran.
'Iran also attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan,' he added.
Bagheri said that in November last year Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa had visited Iran and his visit to Pakistan is being carried at the invitation of Pakistani counterpart.
He said that bilateral ties, defense cooperation, border management, war against terrorism, regional and international developments would come under discussions during his meetings with Pakistani civil and military officials.
Meanwhile, Major General Mohammad Bagheri met with Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa to further enhance military to military cooperation between armed forces of Iran and Pakistan.
He also called on Minister for Foreign Affairs Abdullah Hussain Haroon to discuss bilateral ties, international and regional developments.
Iranian Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, heading a high-level delegation, arrived in Pakistani capital, Islamabad on Sunday on a three-day official visit for talks with the country’s officials.
