Iran stabilizing force in fighting terrorism: Italian expert

Head of the Associazione Culturale Russia Emilia-Romagna Stefano Bonilauri in an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) referred to the role played by the Resistance and Iranian military forces in preventing the spread of terrorism in the world, saying Tehran has always been a strong stabilizing force in this regard.

In recent years, when extremist groups, inspired by the Salafis and Wahhabis, increased their influence in areas not controlled by legitimate governments, Iran stood against these militias and defeated them respecting the international legitimacy, Bonilauri added.

Iran strengthened its relations with its historic allies, including the Lebanese Hezbollah, Syria, Iraq and Russia, and implemented a pattern of cooperation between the countries of the 'Eurasia', which I believe is fundamental to the future of peace, development and prosperity, he said.

For me, as an Italian and a European citizen, the West's attempts aimed at fulfilling the interests of the United States and Israel, and maintaining favorable relations with Saudi Arabia, which is the first sponsors and contributors of extremists in the world and in Europe are very disappointing, he said.

In fact, many of Daesh (ISIS) and al-Nusra terrorists as well as other terrorist groups emerged from the suburbs of European cities; London, Paris and Brussels, where they listened to the distorted messages of extremist preachers, the Italian expert reiterated.

Referring to prohibition of the nuclear weapons proliferation, Bonilauri said, unfortunately, colonial and aggressive powers such as the United States will never accept such a prohibition because of their imperialist influence.

Iran making a moral decision, considered nuclear weapons as inhumane and never withdrew from the NPT and even renewed it. It also signed a deal with P5+1, although some Americans, in particular, want to use it to intervene in decisions and to weaken Iran's defense capabilities, insisting on negotiating Iran missile programs, he said.
