Iran speaker calls for expansion of ties with Vietnam

Iran and Vietnam should do their best to realize the targeted goal of enhanced trade relations to two billion dollars, Ali Larijani noted in a meeting with Vietnam's National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

The Iranian parliament speaker called for the expansion of Iran-Vietnam cooperation in various fields, including parliamentary, oil and gas.

During the meeting, the Vietnam parliament speaker, for his part, called for increase of cooperation between the two countries in the economic field in particular, telecommunications and information technology.

She expressed concern about the US attack on Syria and urged all countries to respect the UN charter.

The Iranian speaker, heading a parliamentary delegation, left Tehran for Hanoi on Monday to discuss issues of mutual interest with the Vietnamese officials.

He visited Hồ Chí Minh's house and signed his commemoration book during the trip.

The Iranian parliamentary delegation will later leave Vietnam for Sri Lanka.
