Iran rejects US report on religious freedoms in Iran

Speaking in reaction to issuance of a report by US State Department on the situation of religious freedoms in different world counties, Qasemi said that US cannot present an accurate and realistic assessment of the domestic affairs of the countries, particularly of their demographic and religious conditions.

He said that the report was baseless and biased, and aiming to serve certain political objectives.

The report presents a tarnished image of the situation of religious freedoms in Iran, containing inappropriate allegations and far from realities of the country, Qasemi said.

Settlement of religious differences requires refraining from politicizing the issue and to try to address the question through dialogue and respect for the beliefs of others, the spokesman added.

'It seems that the US government has forgotten this important goal and is merely seeking to exploit the religious diversity in certain world countries for its political objectives,' Qasemi said.
