He made the remarks here on Tuesday while addressing the Iran-India Economic Forum.
Commenting on bilateral relations with India, he noted that New Delhi has stood by the Islamic Republic of Iran at harsh times so the two countries are planning to stay together at better times as well.
He expressed his confidence that the existing challenges will be over and new ways will be worked out for solving problems.
The Iranian foreign minister further noted that sanctions were nothing new for Iran, adding, 'We have been under different sanctions for about 40 years. We will continue to survive and work with our friends.”
Zarif also pointed to many areas of cooperation existing between Iran and India as two complementary economies and said the history of long-standing interaction goes back to thousands of years.
He went on to highlight that Iran and India have lived and collaborated with each other for centuries and their commercial relations are deeply rooted.
'I think the political will of the two governments can help overcome the challenges,' Zarif said.
Iranian Foreign Minister went on to elaborate that certain countries or individuals in today world are using their economic power to force other countries to ignore the United Nations resolutions demanding normal ties with Iran.
Commenting on the current situation in the US, he said “nothing like a revolution has occurred in the US, there has been only a change of the governments but still we see all these challenges emerging that we have to face.
'Iran is the most reliable partner,' he said, saying that opportunities are broad. “We rely on our people to provide security and gain scientific development.”
Zarif continued, 'It does not mean isolation. We are ready to interact with the East and other parties. It can help you choose a partner who exerts pressure for political reasons.”
Heading a high-ranking delegation, Zarif is in India to participate in Raisina Dialogue.
The Raisina Dialogue is a multilateral conference held in New Delhi annually. Since its inception in 2016, the conference has emerged as India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics.
Iranian Foreign Minister is also supposed to deliver speech in a business forum which is underway with the attendance of Iranian and Indian economic activists.
Meeting his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj, India's oil minister and India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi are on Zarif's itinerary.
