Iran president criticizes US malpractice at int'l level

President Rouhani made the remarks in a telephone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Bin Mohamad.

Rouhani also congratulated the successful conduct of the 14th round of elections in which people played a very significant role through their mass presence and also seized the opportunity to congratulate election of Mahathir Bin Mohamad as the country's Prime Minister.

Under your premiership, it is expected to witness further expansion of relations and cooperation between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur, the Iranian president said.

Highlighting an array of untapped economic and investment opportunities in Iran, he invited Malaysian companies to take advantage of such grounds and to engage in projects in Iran to help broaden economic, political and cultural cooperation between the two countries, Rouhani said.

Leading a serious fight against terrorism has been among Iran's main principles in recent years, he said.

We are very happy to support people in Iraq and Syria and bringing Daesh (ISIS) terrorist group to its knees, he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran still remains committed to its pledges with regards to the JCPOA and expects others to do so despite the US unilateral withdrawal from the internationally recognized treaty, he said, referring to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Malaysian premier, for his part, congratulated the Iranian government and nation over Eid al-Fitr that marks the end of Ramadan, and called for expansion of all-out relations and cooperation between the two nations.

Malaysia is to broaden all-out relations and cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mahathir Bin Mohamad said.

The two sides should take advantage of each other's capabilities to broaden cooperation in industries, construction, science, technological know-how, auto production, healthcare and medical treatment and spare no efforts to prepare grounds for active presence of private sectors, he said.

All should endeavor to revise the unpleasant image engraved in the minds of world nations of Islam and Muslims and prove that Islam along with other divine religions can bring world nations a standard life, the Malaysian premier said.

Iran's policy which focuses on broadening cooperation and having interaction with the international community is very desirable, Mahathir Bin Mohamad said.

We believe that unilateralism will lead to lack of cooperation and ruins trust between world nations, he said.
