
In an exclusive interview with the Islmic Republic Newws Agency (IRNA), Mohammad Rafiee said that entry points at Gabd-Reemdan and Mand-Pishin would be operational soon as per the decisions taken during the meeting of 21st Joint Border Commission betweeen the two sides.
He said that border officials of both countries have also reiterated strong commitment to accelerate the process for opening up new entry points.
The Iranian Consul General said that all major issues were discussed in Joint Border Commission meeting and a special sub-committee was also formed to implement the decisions taken in the meeting.
He added that 22nd meeting of Joint Border Commission would be held in May 2018.
He said Iran and Pakistan have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve situation at the border areas between the two countries.
During the two-day meeting, officials of the two countriess discussed proposals regarding the border situation, security isssues, immigration and border trade between the two capitalss.
Both sides expressed their determination to prevent drugs smuggling, intrusion of illegal immigrants and the use of their respective soils for terrorism.
