Director General West Asia at Iran's ministry of foreign affairs Seyed Rasoul Mousavi paid an official visit to Quetta city of southwestern Pakistani province of Balochistan.
During the visit he held important meetings with Governor Balochistan Amanullah Khan Yasinzai, Representatives of Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI), businessmen and tribal leaders.
Iranian Consul General Mohammad Rafiee also accompanied the visiting dignitary in the meetings.
Seyed Rasoul Mousavi in a meeting with Governor Balochistan Amanullah Khan Yasinzai said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to help Pakistani Balochistan province in all areas.
He said that Iran is also willing to play an important role for upgrading of Pakistan’s railways network.
The official added both the states share intermingled historical, cultural and religious bonds and their ties are crucial for economic and regional prosperity.
Both sides have agreed to enhance cooperation among Chabahar and Gwadar ports to maximum level.
They also discussed implementation of decisions taken by the Pakistan-Iran Border Commission and Joint Border Trade Commission.
The Iranian official while speaking to the representatives of Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) said that there is need to enhance border trade between Iran and Pakistan.
He said that both countries have to take more steps to take bilateral trade volume to $ 5 billion as agreed upon between the leaders of the two countries.
He stressed upon trade through more Pakistan-Iran border points and economic zones to foster bilateral economic relations.
