Iran official cautions on new wave of Afghan immigrants

The conflict between government and Taliban in Afghanistan and in the meantime, Daesh rise has severed the life conditions there and the world should wait to see a new wave of immigrants from the region, Hossein Zolfaqari, deputy interior minister for security and law enforcement added.

He called for strict control of Iran-Afghanistan, Iran-Pakistan and Afghanistan-Pakistan borders, and said that if borders are not controlled, entrance of illegal immigrants will cause trouble for Europe.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Zolfaqari thanked the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and declared support for the United Nations Convention on the Status of Refugees.

During the meeting, Assistant High Commissioner for Protection for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Volker Türk said that Iran's experience in providing education; health, job opportunities and credentials to immigrants will be inspiring to finalize the United Nations Convention relating to the Status of Refugees.
