Iran nuclear chief: No negotiation acceptable on JCPOA

Echoing the remarks by the country's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei that the country will not accept a defective nuclear deal, Ali-Akbar Salehi, head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), said that Iran will not accept any negotiation on the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Explaining the process and underlying principles of Iran's plan for achieving multi-thousandd SWUs within the country's obligations framework, he said that the organization based on its past experiences was aware of the possibility that the nuclear talks might not lead to a result, or in case of reaching an agreement, it might be violated; therefore, it acted in a way so that it would not lose the time.

He said that the infrastructure in Natanz electricity facility, required for achieving long-term goals, including the multi-thousand SWUs project, has already been constructed by Iranian scientists.

'The Supreme Leader had repeatedly cautioned that we could not trust the parties, and we realized that we should not burn the bridges behind; rather, we should create various bridges, so that in case of return, we would save time,' he said.

'We have created a vast infrastructure since the beginning', he said, adding 'If we wanted to work on a normal speed, it would take more years.'

He emphasized that the specialists of AEOI, supported by the Iranian government, have since worked round the clock and without much ado.
