Iran make no distinction between Shia, Sunni Muslims: Envoy

'We support Hamas, Islamic Jihad Movement and Hezbollah regardless to their religion,' Mohammad Fathali told Al Akhbar.

Iran and the mentioned Resistance movements and organizations have agreed to combat the Zionist regime of Israel, and Iran sees all of them as the same when dealing with the issue of supporting Resistance in fight against that regime, Fathali said.

Based on the 1979 Islamic Revolution principles and under the leadership of the founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini, Iran's discourse is rooted in countering the global arrogance and the Zionist regime and supporting the freedom-seeking nations, the ambassador said.

Talking of the recent parliamentary elections in Lebanon, the diplomat said Iran backs ballots wherever they are and whatever the result is.

About the developments in Syria, the Iranian diplomat hoped the presence of the terrorist groups will soon end in Syria's southern area.

Touching upon the relations between Tehran and Moscow, Fathali said they are two allied countries standing by each other to counter terrorism in Syria.

Ties between Iran and Russia are historical and go back to hundreds of years, the ambassador added, stressing Moscow plays a leading role in fight against terrorism.

Turning to the regional questions and the Lebanon issue as well, the ambassador said that the 'terrorist groups are at the end ' and this will be a shock for Israel because such groups are continuing the Zionist ideology.
