Iran, KRG discuss developing all-out ties

Masjedi is in Erbil to attend the conference on developing economic ties between Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting both sides discussed developing all-out relations including the economic and cultural domains.

Highlighting increasing Iranian firms’ presence and also negotiations on developing trade cooperation and investment, removing customs barriers were among other topics discussed by both sides.

Iran-KRG economic conference is scheduled to be held in Erbil on May 3-4.

The event is to be held with the attendance of Barzani, Masjedi, Iraqi governor generals and chambers of commerce of Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan Region.

After the September 2017 referendum in the Iraqi Kurdistan region, which was called as unconstitutional by Baghdad, the Iraqi government decided to close the joint borders between the Kurdistan region and the neighboring countries.

Since May 27 and after a six-month suspension, flights between the Iranian capital, Tehran, and the city of Erbil in the Iraqi Kurdistan region have been resumed.
