Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in a message declared a nine-day ceasefire in the country called for in a fatwa issued by Afghan ulema.
“The Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan announces ceasefire from the 27th of Ramadan until the fifth day of Eid-ul-Fitr following the historic ruling [Fatwa] of the Afghan Ulema,” he said.
“The Fatwa declared that violence and suicide attacks are not only against Islam but also strictly forbidden in our religion,” he added.
Iran considers Afghanistan act as positive in achieving bigger agreements and in bringing back stability and security to the country, Qasemi said.
He also expressed Iran's readiness for helping in developing peace process in Afghanistan.
This is while the European Union earlier in a statement expressed support for a ceasefire declared by Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani.
