Resistance of government and people of Syria against the danger of terrorism saved the people of this region from a big danger and conspiracy, Mohammad Javad Zarif said.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Al Muallem.
The Iranian foreign minister stressed the need for expelling all the terrorists from Syria and respecting the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In the meantime, the Syrian foreign minister, for his part, lauded the high-level cooperation between Tehran and Damascus in all fields, and called for broadening of allout ties between the two states.
He said that foiling the enemies' complicated plots was the result of two countries' cooperation.
The two officials also discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.
Heading a high-ranking delegation, Zarif arrived in Damascus to meet with high-ranking Syrian officials.
The Iranian foreign minister was welcomed by Syrian deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al-Mekdad upon his arrival at the Internationla Damascus Airport.
