Iran deputy FM hails role of women in reinforcing peace

'Presence of women in two fields of peace, security and protection of environment against destruction are on the agenda,' Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi said.

Speaking in a ceremony held on the occasion of International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict, Araqchi said that women were in the past 'victims' of wars, but they have now a constructive role in resolving wars within the framework of UN peace keeping missions.

The United Nations’ (UN) International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict is annually held on November 6. It aims to educate people about the damaging effects of war and armed conflict on the environment.
