Iran, China, Turkey endorse Pakistan’s stance on Afghanistan: FM

In an interview, the minister who has recently visited Iran, China and Turkey to discuss new American policy for Afghanistan and south Asia said all these countries have acknowledged Pakistan's sacrifices in the war against terrorism during his visit to these countries.

He said it was agreed during these visits that lasting peace in Afghanistan is important for stability of the region and vowed to continue working together for peace in Afghanistan.

Khawaja Asif said India is investing in Afghanistan along the border of Pakistan and 'we have serious reservations about it'.

He said he would hold meetings with world leaders, including Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, during his visit to the United States soon.

During his meetings with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif both countries agreed that there could be no military solution to Afghan issue.

Pakistan-US ties deteriorated after US President Donald Trump announcing his new strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia on August 21 denounced Pakistan for allegedly allowing terrorists to maintain safe havens inside its territory.

Trump’s speech was perceived by many, including the Pakistani government and parliament, as a direct threat to the country’s sovereignty.
