Iran-China ties enter new chapter: Chinese official

“Iran and China have rich histories and ancient civilizations,” Lin Yi said in the eighth Meeting of Iran and China Friendship Association which started work on Tuesday in Beijing.

“The old Silk Road had connected two historical civilizations and the new one is a big capacity for continuation of relations between the two countries,” she said.

She also referred to the last year meeting held between Iran President Hassan Rouhani and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, saying that both sides underlined establishing comprehensive strategic ties.

“They also emphasized developing relations as regard promoting Silk Road,” she added.

The Friendship Association has paved the way for maintaining cooperation between Iranian and Chinese people,” Yi said.

“Iranians are the most reliable partners for China,” she noted.

Meanwhile, the Iranian representative of Iran-China Friendship Association Hassan Tavana referred to the association as one of the oldest ones which has been established for 17 years.

“Developing political and economic ties and taking cultural measures like signing sisterhood agreements between different cities of both countries were among activities of the association,” he added.

The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) is one of the three major foreign affairs organizations of the People's Republic of China. It aims to promote friendship and mutual understanding between the Chinese people and foreign nations.
