Iran busts 450 kg of opium in southeast country

'Iran's border forces at Saravan got to know that a Peugot passenger vehicle tried to smuggle narcotics from Pakistani frontier,' said Brigadier General Saeed Kamali, Head of the border police forces in the south-eastern Province of Sistan-Baluchestan on Tuesday.

He said that the car was stopped and 450 kg of opium was found in it.

'One of the important duties of the border force is to combat buying and selling, storage and smuggling narcotics,' said General Kamali.

'We are firm in this task,' he stressed.

Saravan is a city in Iran's Sistan-Baluchestan Province that lies close to the international border of Pakistan.
