In a meeting with Armenian Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan, the Iranian envoy recalled the historical background of mutual relations and called for broadening of relations between Tehran and Yerevan.
The Armenian minister referring to Iran's role in preserving peace and stability in the region, urged further development of bilateral interactions and cooperation.
In a separate meeting with Armenian Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Levon Vahradyan, Sajjadi expressed hope that during the tenure of the Armenian minister sports cooperation between the two countries would further increase.
Vahradyan, for his part, proposed holding friendly football matches between veteran footballers of both countries and traditional Iranian sports in Yerevan.
The Iranian ambassador also held talks with Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Suren Papikyan and discussed cooperation between the Iranian and Armenian border provinces in the fields of tourism, agriculture and animal husbandry.
The Iranian envoy also discussed exchange of experiences between the two countries in the fields of retirement, social security and entrepreneurship with Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Mane Tandilyan.
In another development, the Iranian envoy and Armenian Minister of Diaspora Mkhitar Hayrapetyan underlined expanding mutual cooperation in seeing to the affairs of Iranians and Armenians living abroad.
The Republic of Armenia with an area of 30,000 square kilometers and a population of three million is located in Caucasus region. It gained its independence following the disintegration of former Soviet Union in 1991. It has joint borders with Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan Republic and Iran.
