In his meeting with the Armenian minister Artur Grigoryan, Iranian envoy Kazem Sajjadi said the Iranian energy ministry was to host the next meeting of Iran-Armenia joint economic cooperation commission, hoping that the implementation of mutually reached agreements would serve to broaden ties between the two friendly and neighboring countries.
Grigoryan for his part referred to the excellent level of relations between Tehran and Yerevan and vowed to do all within his power to upgrade bilateral relations and execute all agreements reached by the two sides within the framework of joint economic cooperation commission.
The two sides also discussed various areas of mutual cooperation including the completion of the third power transmission line, connection of Iranian power grid to that of Georgia via Armenia and preparedness of Iranian companies to participate in developmental projects in that country.
Armenia with an area of 30,000 square kilometers and a population of three million gained its independence following the disintegration of the former Soviet Union in 1991. It has borders with Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan Republic and Iran.
