Ayatollah Khamenei, in a meeting with a group of Iranian medalists in the third Asian Para Games held in Jakarta in October this year, emphasized that 'The invaluable thing you did was to show that if the neglected capacities of humans or the country are being used, they can undoubtedly be contriving for progress and breakthroughs.'
'Sports championship is so big a value for countries that some of them, contrary to the motto that sports are not political, put political issues in the framework of sports,' Iran's Supreme Leader said.
He added that one of the problems of the country is that numerous domestic capacities, including geographical, cultural, human, and commercial ones, as well as underground resources and international exchanges, are not being used appropriately.
The third Asian Para Games, hosted by Jakarta, were held from October 8-16, with 2,880 athletes from 41 countries competing against each other in 13 disciplines.
Iranian athletes clinched 51 gold, 42 silver and 43 bronze medals during the games.
A total of 209 Iranian Para-athletes took part in the games.
