Hezbollah Chief says sectarianism woe targeting all national sectors

Nasrallah made the remarks Saturday in a video conference addressing the electoral ceremony in Tyre city in southern Lebanon.

“Some Lebanese leaders adopt sectarianism to achieve their political goals regardless of the national interests,” Lebanese media ‘Al-Manar’ quoted Nasrallah as saying.

“Tyre city is one of the basic resistance strongholds which defeated the Israeli enemy,” he said.

“Tyre is the city of tolerance and the Islamic-Christian co-existence,” he added.

“The Zionist aggression on Lebanon in 1996 failed as April’s agreement stipulated, excluding the civilians, from the military confrontation.”

“Israeli aggressions on Lebanon started in 1949, not with the advent of the Palestinian resistance factions.”

“In 1960’s, Imam Sayyed Moussa Sadr used to plead the Lebanese state to defend the southern cities and towns against the Israeli aggressions; however, the authorities did not respond.”

“Due to the state’s indifference, Sayyed Moussa Sadr established the popular resistance in southern Lebanon to confront the Zionist enemy,” Hezbollah chief said.

“The Lebanese government did not provide the southern cities after the liberation in 2000.”

“Thanks to the resistance capabilities and achievements, southern Lebanon is now protected against the Zionist barbarism.”
