Hariri expected in Beirut on Lebanon Independence Day

Hariri, who arrived in Paris earlier today, told Lebanese President Michel Aoun in a phone conversation that he will come back to the Lebanese capital to participate in the country's Independence Day celebrations slated for November 22, it was announced by Lebanon's Presidential office Twitter account.

Lebanese prime minister made a surprise resignation announcement on November 4 while in Riyadh blaming his decision to resign on what he called Iran's regional interference.

Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary-general of Lebanon's Hezbollah, said on November 10 the Lebanese prime minister had been held under house arrest in Saudi Arabia, not allowed to return to Lebanon.

He said that Hariri's resignation statement had been written all by the Saudis.

The Lebanese president had also said that Hariri had been taken hostage by Riyadh government calling for his return to the country to freely make his decision.

Hariri is due to visit French President Emmanuel Macron in Elysee Palace later today.
