French president says preserving JCPOA among EU objectives

Addressing the augural ceremony of the annual seminar of French ambassadors abroad, he harshly criticized unilateral policies adopted by the US on the issues such as NATO, economic confrontationwith China, withdrawal from Paris Agreement and the JCPOA, saying that France stance is based on salvaging JCPOA.

Referring to the efforts which led to conclusion of the nuclear deal, he said France continues its policy of dialogue with Iran and it will endeavor to prevent eruption of crisis in coming months.

US President Donald Trump pulled US out of JCPOA and reinstated first batch of sanctions against Iran some time ago. The next batch will start in November.

US withdrawal from the JCPOA drew harsh criticism from the international community and even other signatories to the deal.

Europeans announced that they will support companies willing to continue cooperation with Iran against US sanctions by updating the ‘blocking statute’.
