French police move against Iranian reporters condemned

The statement read that the unwise act of attacking Iranian reporters by the French police amid suppressing workers’ protests on World Labor Day has hurt sentiments of the noble Iranian people and media persons.

Firing at the fourth pillar of democracy and not observing rights of reporters in a country claiming to be an advocate of human rights and freedom of expression once again unmasked the true face of those making instrumental use of the concepts and chanting demagogic slogans, the statement said.

The statement also deplored that even after the occurrence of the disaster, no correct information about the conditions of the reporters was released and French police failed to transport the wounded to the hospital immediately.

Demonstrations on May 1 in Paris marking World Labor Day turned violent as police and demonstrators clashed.

Iranian reporter Shahsavar Hosseini and photographer Tohidian were seriously injured.
