France appoints new envoy to Tehran

The new French Ambassador Philippe Thiebaud will start his mission in Tehran in a few weeks, a statement by France's embassy in Tehran read.

Thiebaud was France's envoy to Pakistan from 2011 to 2014, and also served as the French representative to the UN Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

He also was France's ambassador to South Korea from 2005 to 2009.

His predecessor, François Semenaud, left Tehran in July 2018.
