Fordo symbol of martyrdom, piety, patriotism: Salehi

Fordo is a village near the holy city of Qom and it is also adjacent to one of the country’s nuclear facilities which has been named after it.

Fordo nuclear facilities symbolizes national authority and motto of ‘we can’, Salehi said.

Commenting on naming the nuclear site after Fordo, he said that at the beginning when it was decided to set up a nuclear site in the vicinity of Qom, the name ‘Qom Site’ was proposed for that. But later at a meeting attended by officials the name was changed into ‘Fordo Site’ on the proposal of Major General Hassan Firouzabadi for the holy city’s religious status.

Now, Fordo is famous worldwide. US’ presidents do not know most of their villages but they know Frodo well, Salehi said.
