Europeans march against Trump’s NATO visit

The “Trump Not Welcome” march and a companion concert come as European and North American leaders prepare for an annual summit at NATO’s Brussels headquarters. Trump accuses NATO allies of not doing enough to defend themselves and is demanding that they spend more, AP reported.

The march organizers oppose more military spending. Activists campaigning for the closure of coal and nuclear plants, an end to racism and sexism and for stopping austerity plans that hurt the poor joined Saturday’s event.

Trump’s NATO demands and climate and trade policies have angered European leaders he will see at the summit on Wednesday and Thursday.

A meeting of NATO Heads of State and Government will be held on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 July 2018 in Brussels, Belgium. The meeting will be chaired by the NATO Secretary General and will include a short opening ceremony.
