Europe will defend its contracts with Iran under JCPOA

On possible impact of the US president's stance on the JCPOA on Iran-Europe relations, Massimo said the world is now in a such a situation that it does not need any more tension.

Massimo made the remarks in an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on the sidelines of his visit to the 31st Tehran International Book Fair which opened Wednesday.

He said the JCPOA will definitely be implemented in the best possible manner and expressed hope that no change will be in Donald Trump's policy on the deal.

He said he trusted the Iranian side's words about the peaceful nature of the country's nuclear activities and expressed confidence that such activities would not pose any danger to any country.

Massimo, who is also the director of Torino book fair, said the two countries enjoy good cultural relations and they respect each other's cultures.

The Italian ex-minister of culture and tourism said he was glad that he is viewed as a friend of Iran and maintained that countries can use culture as a means to settle their political and economic issues.

T he Tehran book fair, held in a 130,000 square meter plot of land, is playing host to 2,050 domestic and 132 foreign publishers.
