'Despite Trump's moves, the EU will side with Iran,' EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Phil Hogan said in a meeting with Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri.
He dismissed the US sabotage of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and said that 'We should save the JCPOA which is the result of 12 years of negotiations.'
The official described the US president Donald Trump remarks as political rhetoric and noted that the US congress will prevent his measures against the Iran nuclear deal.
He pointed to resumption of cooperation between Iranian banks and 50 small and middle size banks in Europe and voiced hope for resumption of major European banks' cooperation with Iran in the coming years.
Hogan said Iran and EU relations are based on a win-win game, noting that EU is willing to open an office in Tehran to be able to speed up execution of Iran and EU agreements.
